Solar power installers for Newcastle and the Hunter

Sources

• Sun position: the NOAA solar position algorithm for Newcastle (32.92° S, 151.78° E), on Sydney time, recalculated every 30 seconds.
• The roof figure: a clear-sky model for a north-facing panel tilted 20°, shown as a share of that panel's own peak today. It ignores cloud and shade, so it shows what the sun allows, not what any one system makes.
• The photo: a real Aztech install from the site. Its colour follows the hour; the light on the panels is drawn on.
• Energy path: which way energy flows for a home with panels and a battery at this hour of the day. A diagram, not a measurement.
• Parts and sizes: from each product's page on the Aztech site, linked from its name under Your system. Panels: Aiko 490 W, Jinko 510 W, REC 470 W, Tindo 475 W, WINAICO 485 W, LONGi 475 W, Canadian Solar 510 W. Inverters: Fronius 3 to 6 kW, GoodWe MS 5 to 10 kW. Batteries: Sigenergy 8.76 kWh usable a module, AlphaESS 13.99 kWh usable a unit, Fox ESS 6.96 kWh a module in stacks of 2 to 14, FranklinWH 13.65 kWh. Chargers: SolarEdge 7.4 kW, GoodWe 7, 11 or 22 kW, Ohme 7.4 kW, Tesla up to 71 km of range an hour. The Fronius Primo GEN24 Plus photo is Fronius's own (fronius.com).
• Where the Aztech page leaves a figure out, it comes from the maker's datasheet that page links to: Sungrow hybrid 5 to 10 kW, SH5.0RT to SH10RT (datasheet); SolarEdge HD-Wave SE3000H or SE5000H (datasheet); Tesla Powerwall 3 13.5 kWh (datasheet); Sungrow SBH 5.0 kWh a module, 4 to 8 modules, 20 to 40 kWh usable (datasheet); SolarEdge Home Battery 9.7 kWh usable (datasheet). Read 1 October 2026.
• GoodWe ESA: from GoodWe's own pages. Inverter 3 to 10 kW, battery modules of 5 kWh and 8 kWh that can be mixed, up to 6 modules a stack, whole-home backup up to 63 A with no gateway (goodwe.com.au). Usable energy 5.0 kWh or 8.0 kWh a module (GoodWe ESA datasheet, AU). Read 2 October 2026.
• Compatibility notes: from the product's Aztech page, or GoodWe's own page for the GoodWe ESA. They are advice and never stop a choice. The most modules or panels you can pick is our limit, except for the Sungrow SBH, Fox ESS, AlphaESS and GoodWe ESA, where the maker sets it.
• Yearly generation, estimated: EU JRC PVGIS 5.3, ERA5 weather 2005 to 2023, Newcastle (32.93° S, 151.78° E), panels facing north at a 20° pitch, 14% system losses: 1,542 kWh a year for each kW of panels, about 3% up or down from year to year. Panel kW times 1,542, rounded to 10. Shade, roof direction and the inverter are not counted. Read 1 October 2026 (re.jrc.ec.europa.eu/pvg_tools).
• Government discount, estimated: federal small-scale technology certificates at about $40 each, near the clearing house price (Clean Energy Regulator, Quarterly Carbon Market Report, June quarter 2026). Solar: panel kW times 1.382, the zone rating for Newcastle postcodes (Zone 3), times 5 years. Battery, Cheaper Home Batteries: 6.8 certificates a usable kWh for batteries installed May to December 2026 (5.7 from January 2027), the full rate up to 14 kWh, 60% from 14 to 28 kWh and 15% from 28 to 50 kWh (Clean Energy Regulator and DCCEEW). Certificates are whole numbers, so each count is rounded down here and the estimate never runs high. Read 1 October 2026. An estimate of the government discount only, never an Aztech price; the real figure depends on the install date, the certificate price on the day and the final design.
• The drawing: ours. It draws the parts chosen, not any real roof. Battery modules and units are drawn the same size whatever the brand.
• Logos: the Sungrow, Fronius and Jinko logos are the files on Aztech's own site. Other brands show their name.
• Relief map: SRTM elevation from AWS Terrain Tiles (about 125 m per pixel), shaded and shadowed in your browser with the same sun, height exaggerated 2x. Lakes, the Hunter River and suburb points from OpenStreetMap. Each dot is a suburb in the project gallery, sized by its photo count.
• Projects: every photo and suburb tag comes from the gallery at aztechsolar.com.au/projects/. Reviews are the Google reviews the site shows, as of 29 Sep 2026. The Facebook figure, 92% recommend (36 reviews), is as Facebook showed it on 2 October 2026.
